The Apex Metal Services Story

Proudly Whakatane owned and operated since 1994

An established business in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, Apex Metal Services is a one-stop engineering and fabrication business that offers experience, and high-calibre workmanship carried out by our team of qualified tradesmen.

An experienced tradesman, Ross Wilkins launched Apex Metal Services in 1994. He quickly built up the business and gained an excellent reputation within the industry.

Ross was later joined by his son, Scott, a panel beater by trade who embarked on a career in sheet metal engineering. On completing his apprenticeship at Apex, Scott travelled overseas, working in England for two years and further improving his skillset along the way.

On his return to New Zealand, Scott once more joined Apex Metal Services, eventually taking over at the helm when Ross retired.

Scott has continued to build upon the business his father created, increasing staff numbers and installing state-of-the-art machinery. In 2014, the business expanded further, with a move to a new purpose-built factory in Mill Road, Whakatane.  This move enabled Apex Metal Services to function from one building and allowed for the accommodation of an overhead crane to expand the scope and variety of work undertaken.
